The Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw is the most important Chopin centre in the world; it plays a key role in promoting, safeguarding and disseminating the heritage of Fryderyk (also known as Frédéric) Chopin and is also a centre for research into the great Polish composer and his work.

바르샤바 소재 폴란드 프리데리크 쇼팽 협회는 세계 최고의 쇼팽 관련 기관이다. 프리데리크 쇼팽 유산의 홍보, 보존과 확산에 힘쓰고, 위대한 폴란드 작곡가 쇼팽과 그의 작품에 대한 연구를 진행한다.

Established by the Polish parliament in 2001 as one of Poland’s national cultural institutions, it continues the tradition of the Music Society, the nineteenth-century Chopin Committee and the Fryderyk Chopin Society. It organizes the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and other significant artistic events, pursues publishing and educational ventures, maintains a rich library and phonographic collection, and also runs the Fryderyk Chopin Museum.

2001년 폴란드 국회에 의해 국립 문화기관으로 설립된 쇼팽 협회는 음악협회, 19세기 쇼팽 위원회와 바르샤바 쇼팽 협회의 전통을 이어간다. 바르샤바에서 열리는 쇼팽 피아노 콩쿠르와 그 외 주요 예술 행사를 주최하고, 출판 및 교육 활동을 하며, 자료가 풍부한 도서관과 음반 컬렉션을 관리하며, 프리데리크 쇼팽 박물관을 운영한다.

One of the Institute's flagship projects is the international music festival "Chopin and His Europe", which every year since 2005 has attracted to Warsaw the world's finest performing musicians: pianists, virtuosos of other instruments, vocalists and world-renowned ensembles. The main strands to the festival’s programme are the presentation of Chopin's music within a broader historical and cultural context (encompassing its sources, inspirations and influence, as well as the music of his times, including little-known Polish works) and performances of the highest calibre on historical instruments (piano music, chamber and symphonic works and opera of the nineteenth century).

쇼팽 협회의 가장 대표적인 프로젝트인 ‘쇼팽과 그의 유럽’ 국제 음악 페스티벌은 2005년부터 매년 피아니스트와 다른 악기의 명연주자, 성악가, 국제적인 앙상블 등 세계 유수의 연주자들을 바르샤바로 이끌고 있다. 페스티벌 프로그램의 주요 취지는 쇼팽의 음악을 더 넓은 역사적, 문화적 맥락에서 (작품의 출처, 영감과 영향을 비롯하여 잘 알려지지 않은 폴란드 작품 등 당대의 음악) 제시하고, 시대 악기로 최고 수준의 연주를 (19세기 피아노 음악, 실내악과 교향악 작품 및 오페라) 선보이는 것이다.

Inseparably linked to the Institute's concert programme is its media and publishing work. Its recording projects in particular are characterized by the highest standards in performance and production, and it has received many prestigious prizes and awards for its audio and video releases, covering the complete works of Chopin (on both historical and modern instruments), selected concerts, the promotion of young artists and the music of Chopin’s times, as well as other areas.

쇼팽 협회의 콘서트 프로그램은 미디어 및 출판 활동과 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 특히 협회의 녹음 프로젝트는 최고 수준의 연주와 제작 기술을 자랑하고 있고, 쇼팽 작품 전 작품 연주(시대 악기 및 현대 악기) 공연, 젊은 연주자 홍보, 쇼팽 시대의 음악 등 여러 분야에 걸쳐 출시된 음반과 영상은 여러 저명한 상을 받았다.

The Institute's wide-ranging scholarly work includes organizing international musicological conferences and issuing highly regarded publications that bring popular science, academic and children’s educational books to an international readership. Particularly important is the ongoing project of publishing all of Chopin's extant music manuscripts in facsimile: these are published in the form of exclusive albums, displaying exceptional scholarly and artistic qualities.

쇼팽 협회의 학술 활동은 음악학 구제회의 개최를 비롯하여 전 세계 독자를 대상으로 대중과학, 학술 및 아동 저서 등 높이 평가받는 출판물의 제작 등을 포함한다. 특히 중요한 프로젝트는 현재 진행 중인 쇼팽의 모든 현존 악보 필사본의 복제판 출판으로, 학술적, 예술적 가치가 높은 한정판 앨범의 형태로 제작될 것이다.

An integral part of the Institute is the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, housed in the restored historical interiors of the Ostrogski Palace in Warsaw. Its permanent display contains many invaluable Chopiniana, presented with the use of the latest museum resources and technologies, both interactive and multimedia, and it attracts visitors from all over the world. Also preserved under the aegis of the Museum is Chopin’s birthplace, set within a beautiful park in Żelazowa Wola.

쇼팽 협회는 또한 바르샤바의 오스트로그스키 궁전의 역사적인 공간을 복원하여 쇼팽 박물관을 운영하고 있다. 상설 전시는 수많은 귀중한 쇼팽 관련 유물을 인터랙티브 및 멀티미디어 등 첨단 매체와 기술을 사용하여 선보이고, 전 세계 방문객의 발길이 끊이지 않고 있다. 또한, 박물관 관할하에 젤라조바 볼라의 아름다운 공원에 있는 쇼팽의 생가를 관리하고 있다.
