쇼팽은 1810년 3월 1일 폴란드 바르샤바에서 태어나 1849년 10월 17일에 사망하였다. 쇼팽은 마치 위대한 시인처럼 감수성이 예민한 작곡가로 18세기를 지향한 많은 피아노곡을 작곡했고 현대에도 끊임없이 작품의 연주가 이뤄지는 작곡가이다. 그의 작품은 자신의 가장 격렬한 직관을 밖으로 내보이면서도 때로는 은밀하게 얼버무리지 않고 지극히 간결한 모습으로 만들어져 있다. 그리고 이와 함께 슬라브적 우수와 용감한 애국심도 놓치지 않고 있다. 쇼팽의 주요 작품으로는 피아노 독주곡, 피아노 협주곡이 있으며 이외에도 피아노 3중주곡, 가곡 등이 있다.
Chopin 24 Preludes, Op. 28
This is a unique collection of pieces generally counted among the great masterpieces of the lyrical miniature during the Romantic period. Schumann extolled the incomparable poetical qualities of the work, saying that each piece was marked with the composer's signature, and Liszt eulogized the work as the supreme manifestation of Chopin's poetic gifts.
쇼팽의 24개 전주곡은 일반적으로 낭만주의 시대 동안 서정적인 소품의 위대한 걸작들 중 하나로 간주되는 독특한 모음곡이다. 슈만은 작품의 비할 데 없는 시적 특성을 극찬하였으며 각 작품에는 작곡가의 서명이 찍혀 있다고 말했고, 리스트는 이 작품을 쇼팽의 시적 재능의 최고의 표현으로 칭송했다.
The work was published in September 1839 when Chopin was aged twenty-nine, and was composed over a period of four years from 1836.

No two pieces in the work are written in the same key, and each single piece is set in a different one of the twelve major and minor keys. The work as a whole is arranged in sets of two pieces in a major key and its relative minor, with the keys moving upwards progressively in fifths. The musical conceptions are highly varied, each piece being composed on the basis of a specific musical idea, in the manner of a Mazurka, a Nocturne, a "song without words", or an Etude.

Prelude No. 15 ("Raindrop") is especially well-known, and number 4, 6, 10, 12, 13, 17 , 21, 23 and 24 are also often performed independently. The chromatic harmony and modulation evident in the central sections of Preludes 2, 4, 8, 14 and 24 constitute the foundations of later Romantic harmony.

Nocturne No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 9 No. 1 (Larghetto, 6/4)
The first of Chopin's Nocturnes to be published were the three pieces of Opus 9, composed between 1830 and the spring of 1831. The first Nocturne is a beautiful piece which on the conceptual level is the epitome of the genre. It is in ternary form in the manner of a song, and the central section, marked "sotto voce", features a superbly lyrical melody in the relative major key.

Nocturne No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 9 No. 2 (Andante, 12/8)
This is the most popular of Chopin's Nocturnes. It is set in an irregular Rondo form and features the progressive ornamentation of a four-measure phrase. The overall tone of the work is cloying, but the coda has a particularly creative effect.
녹턴 2번은 쇼팽의 녹턴 중에서 가장 인기 있는 곡이다. 불규칙한 론도 형식으로 되어 있으며 4소절 악구의 점진적인 장식이 특징이다. 작품의 전체적인 분위기는 감상적이지만, 코다는 특히 상쾌한 효과가 있다.
Nocturne in C-sharp minor, Op. Posth. (Lento con gran espressione, 4/4)
This piece was written in 1830 soon after Chopin had arrived in Vienna, and was published in 1875 after his death. Although it is a youthful work, it is a superbly conceived piece featuring beautiful melodies. This Nocturne is sometimes referred to as "Reminiscences" due to the appearance of a melody from the Piano Concerto No. 2 which is quoted in the central section. A melody from Chopin's song "Zyczenie" ("The Maiden's Wish"), Op. 74 No. 1, dating from 1829, also appears in this piece.

Since winning 1981 Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York at the age of 18, Jean-Yves Thibaudet has made a series of sensational debuts and reappearances throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East. In 1980 Mr. Thibaudet was awarded the highest prize at the International Music Competition in Japan and subsequently toured Japan with the Tokyo Philharmonic, the Nagoya Philharmonic and the NHK Symphony. He has been invited back each year for extensive concerto and recitals appearances and has made four recordings for Denon Records of Ravel, Chopin and Liszt.

A native of Lyon, Jean-Yves Thibaudet began studying the piano at the age of five and gave his first public performance at seven. His principal studies were with Lucette Descaves and Aldo Ciccolini at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he won the Premier Prix du Conservatoire at the fifteen. Soon thereafter he won top prizes at the Viotti International Competition in Italy, the Robert Casadesus International Competition in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Busoni International Competition in Italy.

이 음반은 아마존 사이트에서 구매한 것이다. 우리나라에서 나만 가지고 있지 않을까 하는 생각도 해봤다는... 히히히~ 대행 사이트에서 산 것이라 배보다 배꼽이 더 크게 샀다. 그러다가 나중에 왈츠 4개가 추가되어 Dal Segno 음반사에서 발매되었다. 달 세뇨 음반은 사지 않았다. 왈츠 4개는 먼저 포스팅한 음반에 있다. 티보데가 부조니 콩쿠르에 나간 건 맞는데(본인이 인터뷰에서 참가한 대회들을 밝힘) 입상자 명단에는 없다. 그 부분은 영어로는 받아 적었어도 한글 번역에서는 생략했다. 내지에는 일본어, 영어, 독일어가 있는데 영어로 해석이 안 되는 부분은 일본어 중에서 한자를 들여다보거나 독일어 문장을 타이핑한 다음 번역기로 돌려서 해결했다.
