01 Dmitri Alexeev (Russia) / 드미트리 알렉세예프 (러시아)
Dmitri Alexeev, born in Moscow, graduated from the class of Dmitry Bashkirov at the Moscow Conservatory. A winner of the Leeds International Competition (1975), he also won prizes in the Marguerite Long Competition in Paris (1969), the George Enescu in Bucharest (1970) and the Tchaikovsky in Moscow (1974). He has performed with many famous orchestras, including all London orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia, Royal Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and Orchestre de Paris, and conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Pierre Boulez, Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti, Antonio Pappano, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Carlo Maria Giulini and Mariss Jansons. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with Mstislav Rostropovich, Joshua Bell and Barbara Hendricks. He has played in the world premieres of works by Krzysztof Penderecki: the Piano Sextet, in Vienna (Musikverein) and Paris, and the Piano Concerto (premier in Asia), at the Beijing Festival. He has been a juror of prestigious international piano competitions, including the Leeds, Van Cliburn, Santander, Beethoven (Vienna) and Tchaikovsky (Moscow). His discs include piano concertos by Schumann, Grieg, Scriabin, Medtner, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and solo works by Bach, Brahms, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Scriabin and Prokofiev. In 2014, he recorded a critically acclaimed 2-CD set of the complete Chopin mazurkas for the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. He has twice performed at the 'Chopin and his Europe' festival.

02 Martha Argerich (Argentina) / 마르타 아르헤리치 (아르헨티나)
Martha Argerich, born in Buenos Aires, won First Prize in the 7th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1965). One of the world's most brilliant pianists, she is enthusiastically received for her interpretations of the virtuoso piano literature of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Her broad repertoire includes works by Bach, Bartók, Beethoven, Messiaen, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Debussy, Ravel, Franck, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and many others. She began learning piano at the age of five with Vincenzo Scaramuzza. She performed as a child prodigy, before moving to Europe in 1955 to continue her education in London, Vienna and Switzerland, with Bruno Seidlhofer, Friedrich Gulda, Nikita Magaloff, Arturo Benedetto Michelangeli and Stefan Askenase. She has worked with the most outstanding orchestras, conductors and music festivals in the world. Chamber music also plays an important part in her artistic activities. She has worked with the greatest musicians alive: pianists Nelson Freire, Stephen Bishop-Kovacevich, Evgeny Kissin, Alexandre Rabinovitch and Mikhail Pletnev, cellist Mischa Maisky, the violinists Ivry Gitlis, Itzhak Perlman and Gidon Kremer and many others. She has made numerous recordings for EMI, Sony, Philips, Teldec and DGG, winning prestigious awards. Since 1998, she has been artistic director of the Beppu Festival in Japan. In 1999 she created the Martha Argerich International Piano Competition and Festival in Buenos Aires, and in 2002 the Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano. Her many awards and distinctions include the Officer's Cross (1996) and Commander's Cross (2004) of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, the award of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome (1997), the Order of the Rising Sun with Gold Rays and Neck Ribbon from the Emperor of Japan and the 'Praemium Imperiale' of the Japanese Arts Association (2005). She is a frequent guest of the 'Chopin and his Europe' festival organised by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, and the audio and video releases of those performances have caused a sensation on the international music scene. They include Juliusz Zarębski's Quintet in G minor and Argerich's first recording on historical piano of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Frans Brüggen's Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.

03 Sa Chen (China) / 사 첸 (중국)
Sa Chen – 4th Prize winner, 14th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2000). Sa Chen began learning piano with Professor Dan Zhaoyi at the Sichuan Conservatoire (1991–1995), continuing at the Shenzhen Arts School with the same teacher (1995–1997). She then moved to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Joan Havill (1997–2000). From 2001 she has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover with Arie Vardi. Sa Chen first participated in a music competition at the age of 15 (China International Piano Competition in Beijing, 1994), resulting in invitations to perform in China and Australia. In 1996, she took 4th Prize at the International Piano Competition in Leeds, and four years later again 4th Prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2000), where she also claimed the Chopin Society Award for best polonaise performance. Ms. Chen has performed in England (including at the prestigious Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, and Barbican Center Hall in London), Australia (including the Sydney Opera House), Poland and other countries. She played Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Simon Rattle to great acclaim, and Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 1 in F sharp minor. Ms. Chen has recorded her first CD for JVC, featuring a Chopin programme.

04 Dang Thai Son (Vietnam) / 당 타이 손 (베트남)
Thai Son Dang, one of the foremost musicians of our times, the Vietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son became the first Asian to win First Prize in the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1980). He studied first with his mother in Vietnam, then with Vladimir Natanson and Dmitry Bashkirov at the Pyotr Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. He has performed with the most outstanding orchestras and conductors in prestigious halls around the world. He has taken part in historic artistic events, including a grand concert organised by the Japanese television broadcaster NHK, together with Kathleen Battle, Yo-Yo Ma, Seiji Ozawa and Mstislav Rostropovich (1995), Isaac Stern's last festival in Miyazaki, Japan (2001), and a grand gala concert marking the bicentenary of Chopin's birth, in Warsaw (2010). He has performed many times in the 'Chopin and his Europe' festival organised by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute (2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2014). In 2015, he performed Ignacy Jan Paderewski's Piano Concerto at the festival with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy. He currently teaches at the Université de Montreal as a guest professor. He has been a juror of many prestigious competitions, including the Clara Haskil (Switzerland), Rachmaninov and Richter (Russia), Chopin (Poland) and Arthur Rubinstein (Tel Aviv). He has made many recordings for such labels as Deutsche Grammophon, CBS Sony and Victor JVC. His disc of Chopin's concertos recorded with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and Frans Brüggen for the Fryderyk Chopin Institute's label has been awarded a platinum disc in Poland.

05 Akiko Ebi (Japan) / 아키코 에비 (일본)
Akiko Ebi launched her international career by winning second prize and four special prizes given by Arthur Rubinstein in the Long-Thibaud Competition in Paris and reaching the final of the 10th Chopin Competition in Warsaw, earning the recognition of Martha Argerich, her future mentor. She studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Aldo Ciccolini and pursued additional studies with Vlado Perlemuter, Louis Kentner, Conrad Hansen and Colette Zerah. She has performed throughout the world, in such venues as the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Gewandhaus, Teatro Colón, Wigmore Hall and Suntory Hall, with such outstanding conductors as Brüggen, Calderon, Foster, Fournet, Guschlbauer, Janowski, Klee, Milanov, Sado, Sinaisky and Skrowaczewski. As a chamber musician, she has given piano duo recitals with Martha Argerich and performed with Augustin Dumay, Regis Pasquier, Angela Hewitt, Michel Dalberto and Yumino Toyoda, as well as the Parisii and Via Nova quartets. She appears regularly at festivals in La Roque d'Anthéron, Verbier, Menton, Echternach, Lugano, New York, Tokyo and Warsaw. She has recorded Chopin's complete etudes, preludes, nocturnes and impromptus and also his First Concerto, as well as works by Fauré, Franck, Grieg, Ravel, Pierne, Webern and Dynam-Victor Fumet (world's first recording). She won two Grand Prix d'Or for her Hikari Ōe disc, which brought international attention to this composer, who was born mentally handicapped. Particularly highly rated by critics around the world are her recordings for the Fryderyk Chopin Institute: the Preludes, performed on a period instrument, and her recently released interpretation of the E minor Concerto from the 'Chopin and his Europe' festival with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and Frans Brüggen. Made a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government (1993), she is also a recipient of Japan's prestigious Exxon-Mobile Music Prize (2002). She has given masterclasses in many countries and been a juror of major important international piano competitions.

06 Nelson Freire (Brazil) / 넬손 프레이레 (브라질)
Nelson Freire is one of the very finest piano virtuosos around. Distinguished with state awards in many countries, he has performed in the leading concert halls and worked with the most outstanding soloists, conductors and orchestras. He was born in a small town in Brazil. He trained initially with Nise Obino and Lucia Branco. In 1957, at the First Rio de Janeiro International Piano Competition, he received a scholarship enabling him to study in Vienna with Friedrich Gulda's teacher, Bruno Seidlhofer. Two years later, he launched his international career. To date, he has given concerts in more than 70 countries, with such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Chailly, Charles Dutoit, André Previn, Lorin Maazel, David Zinman, Kurt Masur and Colin Davis, performing with such orchestras as the Berlin, London and Israel philharmonic orchestras, the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester and the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest in Amsterdam, as well as other major orchestras of Europe and North America. He is signed to Decca, and dozens of his albums have received prestigious prizes: Diapason d'Or, Grand Prix du Disque, Victoire d'Honneur, Edison, Gramophone monthly award and, in 2013, a Grammy Latino for the disc Nelson Freire Brasileiro. In 2003, João Moreira Salles directed a documentary film about him. He has appeared at the festival 'Chopin and his Europe' several times before. The French government has nominated him for the title Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

07 Philippe Giusiano (France) / 필리프 주시아노 (프랑스)
Philippe Giusiano - Winner of the 13th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, in 1995 (he was also a finalist in 1990). He was born in 1973 in Marseille, where he began learning piano aged five. He studied at the conservatories of Marseille and Paris, and then on a scholarship at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. As a student, he won prizes in many piano competitions. His success in Warsaw led to appearances at some of the greatest concert halls, including the Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, La Scala, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Salle Gaveau and Suntory Hall. He is also a regular of many major European festivals, including 'Chopin and his Europe'. He has performed in Germany, Japan, Austria, Poland, Italy, France, Portugal, Morocco, Denmark, Lithuania, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Canada and the Middle East, both in solo recitals and with outstanding orchestras and esteemed conductors, such as Antoni Wit, Krzysztof Penderecki, Philippe Entremont, Kazimierz Kord, Yutaka Sado, Jacek Kaspszyk, Grzegorz Nowak and Jean-Jacques Kantorow. His recordings, focussed mainly on Chopin and Rachmaninov, have been acclaimed by critics and audiences. In the last few weeks, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute has released his first disc on the Institute's label, containing works by Chopin: polonaises, the Sonata in C minor, Op. 4 and the Variations in B flat major, Op. 2 on 'Là ci darem la mano' from Mozart's opera Don Giovanni. He is also a very active teacher, particularly in Poland and Japan, and since 2008 he has been a guest professor at Heisei Music College in Kumamoto, Japan. In 2012, he was awarded the Medal of the City of Marseille for his services to the cultural life of his native city.

Nelson Goerner, born in San Pedro (1969), is one of the foremost pianists of his generation – an excellent soloist and esteemed chamber musician. He studied with Juan Carlos Arabián and Carmen Scalicione at the Buenos Aires Conservatory. He won the Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Buenos Aires (1986) and the Geneva Piano Competition (1990). Thanks to Martha Argerich, he received a scholarship from the CIMAE - Art and Science Foundation and Mozarteum Argentino and began studies at the Geneva Conservatory, graduating with honours from the class of Maria Tipo (1990). He performs regularly in major concert venues across Europe, Japan, and the Americas. As a chamber musician, he has worked with many soloists and ensembles, including Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, Vadim Repin, Sophie Koch and the Takács Quartet. He also performs in repertoire for two pianos, together with Martha Argerich, Alexandre Rabinovich and his own wife, Rusudan Alavidze. He is a regular guest at the BBC Proms in London. Nelson Goerner is a regular guest of festival 'Chopin and his Europe' organised by The Fryderyk Chopin Institute. He is one of the few virtuosos to perform both Brahms's piano concertos on the same programme. His recordings have included works by Rachmaninov (Sonata No. 2 and Etudes-Tableaux), Liszt (12 Etudes d'exécution transcendante) and Busoni. His discography also includes a DVD with works by Beethoven and Chopin recorded during the Verbier Festival. His recordings on historical instruments as part of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute's 'Real Chopin' series have won Diapason d'Or prizes. Soon to be released are recordings of chamber works by Józef Krogulski and Józef Nowakowski. In 2014, he was appointed to the Programme Committee of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.

Adam Harasiewicz learned piano with Janina Stojałowska, a pupil of Ignaz Friedman. In 1956, he graduated with the highest honours from the class of Zbigniew Drzewiecki at Cracow College of Music. His talent was first spotted in 1947, in Rzeszów, where he won a Young Talents Competition. In 1955, he won First Prize in the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. He is a recipient of the Harriet Cohen medal in London and the medal of the Paderewski Foundation in New York, the Officer's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland (twice) and a medal of the 'Gloria Artis' order of merit. Regarded as one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation, he performed in Brussels as part of the World Exposition in 1958, on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Fryderyk Chopin and at the Edinburgh Festival in 1961. His concert tours have taken him across Europe, America and Asia (in Japan, he has given more than one hundred concerts). He has performed with orchestras around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, Wiener Symphoniker, London Symphony, Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), NHK (Tokyo) and Warsaw Philharmonic. He has given masterclasses in France, Italy, Germany, Austria and Japan. He has been a juror of competitions in Spain, Italy, San Marino and Poland (from 1995, of successive editions of the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw). An outstanding Chopin interpreter, he is an heir to the tradition of Leschetizky, Paderewski and Friedman. His recordings of works by the Polish composer have been released by Philips (14 discs), the Japanese label Pony Canyon (the Allegro de concert and all the variations), Polish Radio (the complete mazurkas), Decca (the complete works, except the Allegro de concert, on 10 CDs) and the Fryderyk Chopin Institute (two discs with the complete mazurkas recorded for Polish Radio and one disc with the Sonata in B minor, a selection of nocturnes and the Scherzo in C sharp minor, among others).

Krzysztof Jabłoński won Third Prize in the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1985, as well as top prizes in several major international piano competitions, including the Bronze Medal in the Artur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv (1989). He has performed on stages in Europe, the Americas and Asia. He has given recitals in the Master Concert Series at the Berlin Philharmonic and performed with such ensembles as the Orchestra of the 18th Century, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, symphony orchestras of Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Brno and Lahti, Warsaw Philharmonic and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, under the baton of such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Andrzej Boreyko, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Semkow, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Frans Brüggen, Antoni Wit, Witold Rowicki, Jan Krenz and Jacek Kaspszyk. As a chamber musician, he has performed with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and Konstanty Andrzej Kulka. He is also pianist of the Warsaw Quintet. He has performed for ballet and opera companies and taken part in multimedia projects, such as the ballet Fortepianissimo, choreographed by Lorca Massine, and a piano version of Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande. He has released many discs in Germany, Japan and Poland. The Fryderyk Chopin Institute has released two of his albums with Chopin's etudes, on modern and period piano. A pupil of Janina Butor, he completed his studies with Andrzej Jasiński at Katowice Academy of Music. In 2006, he received the title of Professor. He regularly gives masterclasses and lectures, and he has been a juror of international piano competitions, including Chopin competitions around the world. He is a Professor of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.

A milestone for pianist Kevin Kenner was the year 1990, when he gained worldwide recognition with three prestigious awards: top prize at the International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw, the International Terence Judd Award in London, and third prize at the Pyotr Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow. Born in southern California, Kenner first studied with pianist Krzysztof Brzuza and later in Poland with Ludwik Stefański. After further studies with Leon Fleisher, he concluded his formal training in Hanover with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. He taught at the Royal College of Music in London and in 2015 accepted a professorship of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Kenner has performed as soloist with world-class orchestras including the BBC Symphony, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Warsaw Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Belgium, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, NHK Symphony of Japan and San Francisco Symphony. He has collaborated with conductors such as Charles Groves, Andrew Davis, Jiří Bělohlávek, Jacek Kaspszyk and Stanisław Skrowaczewski. He has worked with numerous string quartets, including the Belcea, Tokyo, Endellion, Vogler, Casal and Panocha, and as duo partner with cellist Matt Haimovitz and, since 2011, violinist Kyung Wha Chung. He is a frequent guest at the Pyeong Chang Music Festival in Korea and 'Chopin and his Europe' in Warsaw. His recordings include many Chopin discs, including a recital on period piano, released in the 'Real Chopin' series by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. His CD Chopin Resonances was singled out by Gramophone magazine as one of the top 50 Chopin discs ever recorded. In July last year, his CD with works by Ignacy Jan Paderewski was published by the Institute in the new series 'Resonance', garnering excellent reviews.

Janusz Olejniczak is one of the most outstanding contemporary Chopin interpreters. Born in Wrocław, he was the youngest prize-winner of the 8th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition (1970) and also won a prize in the Alfredo Casella International Competition in Naples. He has performed in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia, in the most famous concert halls, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Salle Pleyel, Suntory Hall, Lincoln Center, Tonhalle in Düsseldorf and Concertgebouw. He has been a juror of piano competitions many times and given masterclasses abroad – in Europe, Canada, Japan and Colombia. Besides the core Classical repertoire, he also performs Polish contemporary music (incl. Lutosławski, Górecki and Kilar). He has played with orchestra under the direction of Witold Rowicki, Stanisław Wisłocki, Kazimierz Kord, Antoni Wit, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Wojciech Michniewski, Tadeusz Strugała, Charles Dutoit, Andrzej Borejko, Grzegorz Nowak, Jacek Kaspszyk and others. For many years, he has also worked with Marek Moś and the Aukso Orchestra. He was one of the first performers of Chopin's music on period instruments (Erard and Pleyel) and is a regular guest of the festival 'Chopin and his Europe' in Warsaw, including appearances alongside Martha Argerich and Maria João Pires. He has also appeared many times with Frans Brüggen's Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées and Philippe Herreweghe. He has made over forty recordings, including the soundtracks to Roman Polanski's The Pianist and Andrzej Żuławski's La note bleu. Among his many recordings for the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, particularly notable is the recently finished complete set of mazurkas on period instrument. He has been decorated with the Officer's Cross of the Rebirth of Poland (2000), the 'Gloria Artis' Gold Medal (2005) and 'Fryderyk' awards (eight times).

Also influential in shaping his artistic personality were Arthur Rubinstein and Witold Lutosławski. A prize-winner of several international competitions, including Third Prize and special prize for the best polonaise in the 8th Chopin Competition. He has performed with the Chicago, American and BBC symphony orchestras, the Concertgebouw, Royal Philharmonic, Yomiuri Nippon, Gewandhaus, Tonhalle, Santa Cecilia and RAI orchestras, the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Mexico, Orquesta Nacional de España and Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Argentina, the Warsaw Philharmonic and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared at such prestigious venues as the Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and UN General Assembly Hall (New York), Suntory Hall (Tokyo), Berlin Philharmonic, Gewandhaus (Leipzig), Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Musikverein (Vienna), Royal Festival Hall (London) and Festspielhaus (Salzburg). He has given masterclasses in Europe, both Americas, Asia and Australia. He is also an esteemed juror of competitions, including in Warsaw, Leeds, Paris, London, Cleveland, Toronto, Seoul, Moscow, Montreal, Tel Aviv, Santander, Tokyo, Prague, Hamamatsu, Sendai, Geneva, Weimar, Takamatsu and Manchester. Besides Chopin, he has recorded music by Lutosławski, Paderewski, Szymanowski, Mussorgsky, Brahms, Mozart and Balakirev. His disc The Best of Fryderyk Chopin with the Prima Vista Quartet won a 'Fryderyk' award (1999) and a platinum disc (2002). In 1998, the President of Poland conferred on him the title of Professor. His distinctions include the Commander's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland, the Mexican Order of the Águila Azteca and the Gold Medal of the 'Gloria Artis' order of merit. Since 1993, he has been artistic director of the Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, and since 2004 head of the Paderewski International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz. He teaches at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and is a member of the Programme Committee of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. In August 2015, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute released, as part of its 'white series', a Piotr Paleczny disc of selected works by Chopin.

Ewa Pobłocka – winner of Fifth Prize (equal) and the Polish Radio prize for the best performance of mazurkas in the 10th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1980). She studied with Zbigniew Śliwiński and Jerzy Sulikowski at the State College of Music in Gdańsk, graduating with honours in 1981. She completed post-graduate studies with Conrad Hansen in Hamburg and benefitted from consultation with Jadwiga Sukiennicka, Rudolf Kerer, Tatiana Nikolaieva and Martha Argerich. She won First Prize in the International Viotti Music Competition in Vercelli (1977) and the gold medal in the International Festival of Young Laureates in Bordeaux (1979). She has performed throughout Europe and the Americas, as well as in China, Indonesia, RSA, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Australia. She is an accomplished chamber musician and has performed with the Silesian Quartet and the singers Jadwiga Rappé, Olga Pasichnyk and Ewa Podleś. She has given numerous first performances and made world premiere recordings of works by Polish contemporary composers, including Andrzej Panufnik, Witold Lutosławski (first Polish recording of the Piano Concerto with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the composer's baton), Paweł Szymański and Paweł Mykietyn. She has worked with European radio stations and recorded more than forty discs, recently including Grieg's complete piano works, solo works by Brahms and Schumann, the complete songs of Chopin and an album including Chopin mazurkas and the Sonata in C minor on period piano (Pleyel, 1848). She is a distinguished teacher. As well as teaching piano at Bydgoszcz Music Academy and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, she is also a guest teacher at the Geidai University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokyo and Nagoya. She has been a juror of many national and international piano competitions.

Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń – a Polish pianist of Bulgarian origins. She graduated from the piano class of Zbigniew Śliwiński at the State College of Music in Gdańsk. During the seventies, she enjoyed success in national and international competitions (incl. a distinction in the 9th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw). An experienced piano teacher, she is currently a professor and head of the piano department at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. Her students have won numerous prizes in national and international competitions. She has given masterclasses in Poland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, China and elsewhere. She has been a juror of competitions at home and abroad. She has performed in many countries. She is also fond of chamber repertoire, performing with Urszula Kryger, Piotr Kusiewicz and the Camerata Quartet, among others. Her performances and recordings have been well received by critics and audiences alike. She has recorded for Accord Musidisc, Art Records, CD Accord and also the Fryderyk Chopin Institute (Chopin's Preludes). For her achievements in the field of music, she has received many state decorations, including the Gold Medal of the 'Gloria Artis' order of merit and the Officer's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland.

John Rink is one of the world's foremost authorities on the music of Fryderyk Chopin. A graduate of Princeton University, King's College London and the University of Cambridge, he also earned a Concert Recital Diploma and Premier Prix in piano at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He won many competitions as a young pianist. As a performer, he has focussed recently on period instruments, and he is a renowned authority on playing Pleyel pianos. He is an award-winning expert on the manuscript and printed sources for Chopin's works, the performance history of his music over the past 200 years (including Chopin's own playing style), analysis of the repertoire, editorial practices and aspects of critical reception. Since 2009, when he became Director of the AHRC Research Centre for Musical Performance as Creative Practice, he has been Professor of Musical Performance Studies at the University of Cambridge. He is also Fellow and Director of Studies in Music at St John's College, Cambridge and a visiting professor at Royal Holloway London, Queen Mary London and the Shanghai and Yong Siew Toh (Singapore) conservatories. He is the author of many works on Chopin, including Chopin Studies 2 (with Jim Samson, 1994), Chopin: The Piano Concertos (1997) and the award-winning Annotated Catalogue of Chopin's First Editions (with Christophe Grabowski, 2010). He is Series Editor of The Complete Chopin – A New Critical Edition, published by Peters, and General Editor of a new series of books on musical performance (OUP, 2016). He also directs two major online projects: Chopin's First Editions Online (www.chopinonline.ac.uk/cfeo) and Online Chopin Variorum Edition (www.chopinonline.ac.uk/ocve). Since 2003, John Rink has served on the Programme Committee of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.

Wojciech Świtała is a graduate from the class of Józef Stompel at Katowice Academy of Music. In the years 1991–1996, he honed his pianistic skills with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Andre Dumortier and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. He is a prize-winner of international piano competitions in Paris (the Long-Thibaud) and Montreal. He was the best Polish participant in the 12th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, when he received the prize for the best performance of a polonaise and a number of hors concours prizes. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in most countries of Europe and in countries of both Americas. He has appeared in concert with most Polish symphony orchestras, the Silesian, Camerata and Royal string quartets and the Aukso Orchestra, as well as the violinists Szymon Krzeszowiec and Piotr Pławner and the soprano Ewa Iżykowska. He has recorded up to twenty discs for Polskie Nagrania, Bearton, DUX, Sony Music Polska and IMC, with music by Brahms, Liszt, Schumann, Debussy, Chopin, Szymanowski and Zarębski. In 2000 and 2005, his discs twice won the Grand Prix du Disque Frédéric Chopin, and in 2002 and 2009 he won a 'Fryderyk' award from the Polish music industry. Since 1998, he has also pursued pedagogic work. From 2008 to 2012, he was deputy vice-chancellor for learning and didactics at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where he has been head of the Piano Department since 2012. He has been a juror of the Long-Thibaud (Paris) and Paderewski (Bydgoszcz) international competitions, the Polish Chopin Competition in Warsaw and many others. In 2014, he was appointed to the Programme Committee of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. His recordings for the Institute include Chopin's Preludes on period instrument, which received the highest mark from BBC Classic, and the Ballades in the 'white series'.

Dina Yoffe – a prize-winner of the Schumann Competition in Germany and the Chopin Competition in Poland. Born in Riga, she graduated from the Moscow Conservatory under the tutelage of Vera Gornostaeva. She has performed around the world, with such outstanding orchestras and conductors as the Israel Symphony Orchestra and Zubin Mehta, NHK Orchestra and Neville Marriner, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra with Valery Gergiev and Dmitry Kitaenko, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra with James De Priest, Kremerata Baltica and Gidon Kremer, Moscow Soloists with Yuri Bashmet and Sinfonia Varsovia under the baton of Jacek Kaspszyk. She has appeared at major festivals in Europe, Japan and the US. She is also artistic director of the 'Musical Summer' festival in Malaga. She has performed in such famous concert halls as the Barbican Centre (London), Suntory Hall (Tokyo), Musikverein and Konzerthaus (Vienna), Moscow Conservatory, Salle Pleyel (Paris) and Royal Palace in The Hague (a concert for Queen Beatrice). She has played in chamber music festivals with such renowned musicians as Gidon Kremer, Vadim Repin, Michael Vaiman, Yuri Bashmet and Mario Brunello. Her concert series with all Chopin's works was filmed and broadcast by the Japanese radio and television station NHK. She has given masterclasses in London (Royal Academy of Music) and Salzburg (Mozarteum Summer Academy). A former professor of universities in Tel Aviv and Aichi, Japan, she has been a juror of piano competitions in Cleveland, Hamamatsu, Barcelona, and Weimar. She has made numerous radio and television recordings, in solo and chamber repertoire. She has appeared many times in the 'Chopin and his Europe' festival. She has also recorded for the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, including on a period Pleyel piano and for two pianos and four hands with Daniel Vaiman.

2020 쇼팽 콩쿠르 심사위원 명단은 2019년 10월 2일에 떴다. 여기까지 18명의 본선 심사위원들을 정리했다. 2015년에 정리해둔 심사위원들이 일부 겹치므로 번역을 몇 가지 활용했다. 유태계 2명 끼워주는 건 기본이라 이번에도 그럴 것으로 생각했는데 역시나 아르헤리치랑 디나 요페가 그렇다. 넬손 프레이레랑 넬손 괴르너가 나온 걸 보니 마치 아르헤리치와 친구들을 보는 것 같다. 아르헤리치가 아키코 에비와도 가까운 사이. 쇼팽 콩쿠르 우승자들은 아담 하라셰비치, 마르타 아르헤리치, 당 타이 손 이렇게 3명이다. 심사위원들 중에서 쇼팽 콩쿠르 입상자이거나 준결선에 올랐던 사람들이 대다수이다. 쇼팽 콩쿠르 출신이 아닌 사람들은 손에 꼽을 정도. 야브원스키는 루빈스타인 콩쿠르 금메달이라고 나와 있어서 동메달로 수정했다. 주시아노는 쇼팽 협회 홈페이지에도 1990년 대회 파이널리스트였다고 나오는데 폴란드어로 찾아보니 세미파이널리스트이므로 수정했다. (그밖에도 잘못된 정보들을 고친 게 몇 가지 있다.) 당시에 세미파이널리스트가 11명이고 입상자가 6명이었다. 주시아노는 1995년에 재도전하여 1위 없는 공동 2위에 입상했다. 케빈 케너는 10년 만에 심사위원으로 다시 나왔는데 1980년 대회에서 세미파이널리스트였다가 10년 후 재도전하여 1990년 대회에서 1위 없는 2위에 입상했다. 90년대에는 일본의 입김 때문에 우승자가 나오지 않았던 시절... 쇼팽 콩쿠르를 거친 참가자들은 세월이 흘러서 심사위원이 되어 나왔다.
